Plot
Cryogenics is the only way to survive humanity. The leaders of several countries came to a unanimous decision to choose the best young people for the “7SEEDS” global project. After the inevitable collision of an asteroid with the Earth, the computer will analyze the possibility of a safe life for humanity. And then the chosen boys and girls will come out of sleep to populate the Earth.
Japan created 5 groups, naming them according to the seasons: Summer Team A and B, Winter, Autumn, Spring Team. Each team has 7 young guys and one experienced instructor who can survive in the most difficult conditions of life. According to the project, the government of the countries prepared in advance hiding places with seeds and special teaching aids.
Waking up after a long sleep, the girl Natsu could not immediately understand what happened. Her group got to the island, and this place did not strongly resemble the world as she remembered it before the disaster. Now the guys need to survive and adapt to new conditions. A swarm of carnivorous white cockroaches, giant flytraps, birds the size of an animal… What will the chosen one have to face? Will they be able to live up to the expectations assigned to them by scientists many years ago?..
Protagonists anime
5 groups of 7 people. This is what the 7SEEDS government project on cryogenic protection of people looks like, the goal of which is the survival of the human race after the destruction of the world. Due to the fact that scientists were able to predict such a sad end for humanity, the project was developed in advance.
Each member of the group is named after a word / phrase associated with a particular season. The chosen ones were chosen with special care.
- Natsu Iwashimizu – a 16-year-old girl from Summer Team B; shy and reserved, because in the family she always felt oppressed, and at school she constantly received ridicule; Natsu is an observer in her team, she writes down everything that the guys discover and encounter.
- Arashi Aota – guy 17 years old from Summer Team B; by character – bold and resourceful, with a heightened sense of justice; constantly protects Natsu, for whom he becomes a best friend.
- Semimaru Asai – an 18-year-old member of Summer Team B; although he constantly teases Natsu, he tirelessly takes care of her; has tender feelings for Natsu and even shows jealousy when he sees a girl with one of the guys.
- Kaname Mozunoto – team members call him Mozu; the most mysterious of all members of Summer Team B; Mozu is incredibly strong in the art of survival under any conditions; unlike other members of the Summer Team, his name indicates autumn rather than summer.

Interesting Facts
- The name of the main character Natsu in Japanese means “summer”, and her surname Iwashimizu – “water trickling from rocks”.
- For the first time, the manga was published in the Japanese magazine Betsucomi (since March 2002 – in the magazine Flowers) by Shogakukan and has been published since November 2001. A total of 35 volumes were issued. The last volume of the manga was released in August 2017.
- Manga “7 Seeds” has been adapted for the radio drama. Broadcasts came out from December 2003 to February 6, 2004.
- Netflix originally planned the release of the 1st season of the anime series for April 2019. But due to production delays, the premiere was postponed to the end of June 2019.
- In 2007, the “7 Seeds” manga Shojo genre received the Shogakukan Manga Award, which is considered one of Japan’s main manga awards.
