Sequel to psychological horror “Clarice” may not happen. Fans of the TV show follow the news and know that in the spring of 2021 the project was supposed to be transferred from CBS to Paramount + to begin work on the season 2. Unfortunately, the negotiations came to nothing. As of November 2022, there is still no information about the future of the “Clarice” TV series. We continue to monitor the news and will update the article as soon as something becomes known.

As much as the creators of the series would like to refer to the film “The Silence of the Lambs”, this is impossible to do. TV project rights belong to another company, and even the name of the great Hannibal Lecter is forbidden to pronounce.

Plot

Clarice Starling was disliked at work from the start. As a new employee, she was fortunate enough to solve the first case that did more damage than good. She was able to neutralize the most dangerous criminal, but at the same time she became the object of ridicule of her colleagues. They didn’t want to believe that the newcomer could neutralize the most dangerous serial maniac.

And at this time, Clarice was experiencing severe stress. At night she dreamed of moths. The ones that did not allow sleep in the killer’s hideout. Many called her “Bride of Frankenstein”, but only later will it become known what was meant. The girl was reluctant to go to forced psychotherapy sessions appointed by her superiors. There she pretended to be fine.

In fact, Starling felt terrible, which she didn’t even want to admit to herself. She was so exhausted by the memories of the Buffalo time that the girl did not want to have anything to do with this name. But the FBI leadership has big plans for the clever Starling – she is transferred to a new place filled with serial maniacs, killers and other monsters.

Here Clarice realizes that she has no time to deal with her thoughts. She is forced not only to act in the interests of the investigation, but also to hide the truth from the civilian population. In order not to panic, Clarice has to tell people that the killer has already been found. But in reality it’s not like that. There is someone more serious behind every investigation…

Each next crime is filled with unpleasant memories, but Clarice has to gather the will into a fist and act. The federal agent once again proves to her colleagues that she is capable of becoming a competitor, even with the least work experience. What’s next for Clarice? Will Starling be able to overcome her attachment to a serial killer and the first psychotherapist?..

• Paul Krendler – Chief of Clarice; makes her hide the truth from people, passing off wishful thinking; ambitious; likes to ascribe to himself other people’s merits, he also prefers to do dirty deeds with someone else’s hands – Michael Cudlitz.
• Catherine Martin – one of Buffalo Bill’s victims, Clarice managed to rescue her at the last moment; longs for a meeting with her savior, although Clarice constantly avoids her; after the experience, Catherine cannot recover; her house is a constant mess – Marnee Carpenter.

Interesting Facts

1. Despite the positive feedback from viewers, some film critics shared their views after watching the show. According to them, the TV series cannot be compared to the film “The Silence of the Lambs”, released exactly 30 years ago. But at the same time, they note the design style, the resemblance to the typical detective of the 90s and the impeccable work of Rebecca Breeds.
2. For 2 months Simon Northwood was preparing for the role, so thoroughly that he was noticed by directors of other TV projects. His role in the TV series “Clarice” is not as significant as he would like, but the actor was able to remain memorable for viewers. Northwood prepared for the role using real-life experience – he reviewed police reports with interrogations of maniacs.
3. Michael Cudlitz’s character is so unlike an actor in real life that make-up artists did not repaint him constantly. In the TV series “The Walking Dead“, where he played Abraham, Cudlitz appeared red, although it has long been known that his true hair color is fair. Michael himself does not care about appearance, the main thing for him is to play his role expressively.
4. All members of the cast watched films about Clarice and Lecter – this was the condition of the creators of the project. And although you can’t rely on their events, the directors managed to get around all the difficulties and show that Clarice, which became a precious stone in the hands of the greatest killer. Starling was able to transfer from one series to another, even if her companion was already noticeably older.
