Plot

The story revolves around a high school student Hanae Ashiya, who before the beginning of all the strange events in his life was an atheist, did not believe in dark forces and completely denied the existence of any kind of magical creatures.

But it so happened that he had to believe in otherworldly worlds. It all happened on the day when, at the beginning of the school year, Hanae accidentally collided with yokai, a supernatural spirit, firmly attached to the guy.

Ashiya managed to cope with the demon only when he turned for help to the exorcist – Haruitsuki Abeno.

But for the assistance provided, Abeno billed the unhappy classmate for a pretty tidy sum. Not having the means to pay off debt, Hanae is left to become an exorcist’s assistant.

The adventures of the two “friends” do not end there, but only begin. Ahead of them are waiting for new acquaintances, difficulties, dangers both in this world and in the other world, and, of course, love…

Main characters

• Hanae Ashiya – a sweet and rather pleasant high school student, despite being whiny; unexpectedly found out about your ability to see yokai – supernatural spirits, has since hired as an assistant to Mononoke; in the subsequent series he discovered in himself some mysterious forces.
• Haruitsuki Abeno/Mononoke – Hanae’s classmate, unsociable and stern, quick-tempered and a bit rude, is an exorcist and at the same time the second and current owner of the Mononokean. The guy’s abilities are impressive: he is able to open 2 portals to the underworld for the sake of driving out demons, but this process drains his energy. Believes that demons are more in need of support and help than people.

1. The creators of the picture believe that the genre of “The Morose Mononokean” is defined as comedy, syonen and fantasy.
2. The anime directors were made by Akira Iwanaga (season 1) and Itsuro Kawasaki (seasons 2 and the next 3). Kawasaki created such masterpieces as “Pokémon: Origins”, “Pokémon: Generations” and many others.
