The flaring success of the series “Gomorrah” is gradually dying down, but the audience was upset by the news of the closure of the project. Unfortunately, even before the premiere of the 5th season, the creators of the picture officially announced that it would be the final one.

Plot

Ciro has been with the Pietro Savastano gang for a long time. He saw how the boss raised his son Genny, how his wife sometimes wants to harm competitors and take a leading position. All this made Ciro think about how little Pietro cares about the lives of those who work for him tirelessly. One day, the boss sends his people on a mission, including Ciro.

After fulfilling the order, the purpose of which was to fire at enemies on their own territory, only he remains alive. In battle, Ciro lost the man who replaced his father. And Pietro only said that in this way he wanted to teach a lesson to competitors. The lives of the dead were worthless to him. And the main character decided that he was not going to follow the orders of the chief until they killed him.

Instead, he begins to be more attentive to his own family: his daughter is growing up, a beautiful wife is always waiting at home. When running a business, he prioritizes himself and only then thinks about others. The guy does not have close friends, because in mafia clans people get used to not trust each other and rarely have warm relationships.

Back in season 1, the Savastano clan says goodbye to their positions, nurturing competitors in front of all of Naples. Pietro ends up in prison, where he has to come to terms with the situation of a prisoner and accept the rules of the game imposed by the head of the prison. First, Imma, his wife, takes over the reins of government, but soon the matured Genny starts doing business.

Savastano’s business dies out and Pietro blames his son. At this time, Ciro persuades competitors to take action aimed at destroying his former allies. Over the course of 5 seasons, he has to face Genny more than once, shoot him more than once and come to an amicable agreement more than once. But from year to year, the war between them continues, and there is still no winner.

Season 5 will put everything in its place. The people of Savastano no longer play a special role in Naples, but they cannot be discounted as they know how to act stealthily and break the activities of other clans from the inside. What will Ciro do? For the ability to get out alive from any situation, he received the nickname Immortal, but he has long known that this is just luck that will not last forever…

• Ciro — worked for Savastano for a long time, until he realized that he was considered only a consumable in order to achieve a goal; knows how to mislead enemies; ready to kill, to protect the family at any cost; adores his wife and daughter; works with various crime bosses, often changing his mind about them — Marco D’Amore.
• Genny — the son of Pietro; for a long time he was unnoticed by his father as incapable of running the drug empire, but after a trip to Honduras, in which he became more experienced in the criminal business, his father decided to give him a chance; at the beginning of the journey he was friends with Ciro, but then they became fierce enemies and repeatedly attempted on the lives of each other — Salvatore Esposito.
• Pietro Savastano — a calm, judicious leader; was able to build a whole empire related to drug trafficking; was forced to go to jail and rely on his son, and in the end he greatly regretted this — Fortunato Cerlino.

Interesting Facts

1. It is known that the stories of the characters in the TV series “Gomorrah” are copied from real people. The author Roberto Saviano, who wrote the book of the same name, spent a long time in criminal circles, made secret notes, changed the names of heroes and waited years before the reading material was published. Most of the people mentioned in the book were already dead by that time.
2. The name of the series is a reference to the biblical city of Gomorrah, which God ordered to be destroyed due to the large number of sinners.
3. Since the first season, the picture has been translated into 30 languages. This says only one thing: the frenzied popularity of TV shows.
4. The filming process did not go beyond the borders of his native Italy. Most of the scenes were filmed in Naples, where all the events take place according to the plot. Only occasionally did the film crew have to travel outside the city.
5. In 2019, the film “L’immortale” (The Immortale) was released, starring Marco D’Amore. The events of the picture unfold between the seasons 3 and 4  of the series. The total gross has exceeded 6 million euros, which is considered an excellent amount for an Italian crime drama. About 3 million euros were spent on the creation of the project.
