While peace reigned on earth, the demon Crawly, along with his enemy angel Aziraphale, got used to calm and monotony. They were satisfied with this state of affairs, but soon the situation changed, and Aziraphale turned for Crawly from the enemy into the most reliable ally. The demon decided to disobey the orders of his superiors and start raising a gifted child with the angel…

When will the series “Good Omens Season 2” be released?

The series was originally planned as a mini version. Despite the huge number of positive reviews and a fairly high rating, there was a chance that the viewer would never wait for the release of season 2. The reason for this: criticism of the disrespectful attitude to topics related to Satanism, the devil, as well as the representation of God with a female voice. Proponents of the faith reacted negatively to such an idea, since they consider the series “a banter on God himself.” Amazon took over the situation. They stated that the action of the picture takes place in a different reality, and the project itself has nothing to do with events taking place in real life.

Notwithstanding the above, in June 2021, the creators of the TV series “Good Omens” officially announced that filming of new episodes would begin in the near future. The production process eventually started only at the end of 2021 in Scotland. Season 2 premieres on July 28, 2023. 

Plot

For centuries, magical creatures inhabit the Earth. Angels, demons – people only guess about their existence, but none of them knows that they actually live among us. A child is born in the monastery, and then Crawly gets the task – to steal the child and replace him with a more terrible creature – the Antichrist.

If the demon wanted the end of the world, he would surely replace the babies. But in this case, he will have to say goodbye to all the joys that brings him to be near people. Is a bloodthirsty demon will fulfill a desire that could turn into sad news for him? Of course not. So he decided to do things differently.

Crawly does not change babies. He asks Aziraphale to do tremendous service to him – the demon wants to raise a child with an angel. Having received consent from the angel, they go for the Antichrist and decide that together they can make him a normal creature. As season 1 showed, the idea failed miserably.

Although Crawly and Aziraphale tried to accustom the child to bad and good deeds, the boy still does what he pleases. Perhaps in time they will be able to curb their child? Or will there be new difficulties? Naturally, they will appear – after all, the men took the wrong child!

Actors and their roles

• Aziraphale – an angelic creature in the image of a middle-aged man; he dutifully refers to fate, tries not to use magical powers to do harm, and avoids bad deeds in every way; decided to help Crawly to be able to raise a decent person from a child – Michael Sheen.
• Crawly – a demon who loves the outfits that make him look like a rock star; constantly uses force for selfish ends; the authorities are not obeyed when his interests come into play; decided to raise a child by joint efforts with an angel; easily manipulates people and Aziraphale – David Tennant.
• Adam Young – a boy who was born in the monastery on the same night when the situation with the Antichrist occurred; is the future savior of the Earth – Sam Taylor Buck.
• Sister Mary – belongs to the category of manashes – Satanists, concerned about attracting supporters to their side – Nina Sosanya.
• Satan – the series is presented as a cartoon image – Benedict Cumberbatch.

Interesting Facts

1. Benedict Cumberbatch, who voiced Satan, immediately agreed to voice his hero. Given his roles in the movie (“Sherlock“, “Avengers: Infinity War”, “Doctor Strange”), he was not “arrogant” and takes part in favorite TV shows with pleasure.
2. David Tennant is a master of crazy roles, so the creators decided at all costs to get him into their project. Over the course of a month, David had thought of accepting his role or not. But in the end, the creators of the series persuaded him to play the role of an extravagant demon who uses all the advantages of indecent methods and espionage for his own benefit.
3. The director of the series, Douglas Mackinnon, made friends with all the guys from the cast during the filming of season 1. Usually the director’s work involves conflicts with those in the frame, but in the case of Mackinnon, this is not so. Some duplicates were completely removed from the first attempt, since the talented protagonists were not distracted by extraneous matters.
4. Michael Sheen laughed for a very long time when make-up artists did his hair. Given his age, Michael had no idea that it would look good in the image of a good-natured man. Anyway, now Sheen walks around with such a hairstyle even when he does not act in the series – on the one hand, it is a pity to spoil his hair even more, and on the other – he is already used to it.
