Plot

The Heavenly Emperor needs to find strong soldiers to send them on a mission to the North. There are believers who ask for help in their prayers to Heaven. Their main enemies are dark spirits. Prince Xie Lian, known as a kind, sympathetic favorite of the people, receives an offer to protect the people of the North. His candidacy was ridiculed by the generals, because the Prince had already twice received an assignment, which he failed miserably. But the guy doesn’t despair. He knows he can do a lot. He just needs to prove it.

Once among the people, Xie Lian learns local news: a girl disappeared in the mountains again. Local residents are worried about this fact, they are scared, but they cannot do something on their own. Anyone who tried to protect the girls died. What are these stories about the Slaying Spirit – legend or truth?

According to legend, the Ghost Bridegroom lives in the mountains, kidnapping beautiful girls. For 100 years, 17 brides disappeared without a trace, more than 100 people died. The last missing bride is from the official’s family. On the long journey through the mountains, she was accompanied by 40 of the best warriors, who in the end could not save themselves or the beauty. The bride’s father was desperate. He turned to Heaven for help, and the official promised a generous reward to the one who found his daughter. So he drew the whole North into this story.

Xie Lian got two assistants who went in search of Ghost Bridegroom with him. On the way, a test awaited them, after which the Prince ended up in Ming Guang Temple, where he found all the missing brides. The temple that no one knew about. But the most important thing happened later when Xie Lian met him…

Anime main characters

• Xie Lian – a kind, bright guy who does not exalt himself above others; ready to help people despite their social status; has neither temples nor believers; twice he was driven out of Heaven; communicates with Ling Wen through the power of thought; owns the magic of artifacts.
• Hua Cheng – the Ghost King; known as one of the most dangerous demons; smart, strong, arrogant character; Hua Cheng doesn’t care much about the people around him, but his attitude towards Xie Lian is different – here the guy shows special care, kindness and tenderness.
• Nan Feng and Fu Yao – Xie Lian’s assistants, who initially looked more like bandits than allies; work for those Gods with whom the Prince does not have a very good relationship; their generals are not aware of the unauthorized actions of their subordinates; constantly fight among themselves, but protect Xie Lian on his way.
• Ling Wen – despite the failures of Xie Lian and the hostile attitude towards him from the generals, gave him a new assignment; however, she could not find support for the young guy; blessed him on the road; persuaded two junior officials from the Middle Heavens to help the Prince on his journey.

1. The Chinese anime “Heaven Officials’ Blessing” is based on the fantasy novel of the same name by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (consists of 244 chapters). One of her most popular works is the novel “Mo Dao Zu Shi” (Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation), published in 2015, became the basis for the anime. In September 2020, the Chinese adaptation of her novel “The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System” (or “Scumbag System”) was released, which received a huge number of positive reviews.
