Experts in the anime world are confident that the continuation of the series “Lycoris Recoil” will be released with a high degree of probability. There are directions for the development of the storyline, they can also add any new one — everything is in the hands of the author of the story, screenwriter Asaura. The high ratings of the season 1 should have a beneficial effect on the director’s decision to take on new episodes.
p.s. As of July 2023, there is no information about the work on the season 2 of the anime “Lycoris Recoil”. Plot
Residents of Japan consider themselves happy, living in safety, surrounded by cleanliness, kindness and responsiveness of people. But behind such conclusions lies the invisible and huge work of the secret organization “Lycoris”, whose members are female agents who protect the country from terrorist attacks and the actions of other dangerous criminals. Fragile and cute in appearance, each member of the DA group is a great professional, capable of completing a task of any complexity: hunt down, neutralize.
On one of these missions, agent Takina Inoue was ordered not to open fire and wait for reinforcements. But in that situation, when her colleague was under attack, Takina made the only right decision, in her opinion. The girl opened fire to kill, destroying everyone, even those whom she was supposed to take alive. As a result, the operation turned out to be a failure: there is no information about the whereabouts of thousands of weapons and a personal reprimand to the girl from the management with her further transfer to another branch of the agency.
But no matter how bad her heart was, Takina knew that at her new job, in the “LycoReco” cafe, she would meet a girl named Chisato Nishikigi, considered the best agent in the history of Lycoris. But at first glance, Chisato seems very strange: too happy, carefree and even kind to enemies, as she avoids killing them on her assignments, using rubber bullets and ropes to detain. Will Takina really be able to gain experience from Chisato? Will she be able to return to her previous job?

- Chisato Nishikigi — 17 year old girl; an employee of the cafe “LycoReco”; prefers to destroy criminals without bloodshed; is able to dodge a bullet at close range, since she has the gift of predicting its trajectory by analyzing the behavior of the shooter himself.
- Takina Inoue — Chisato’s 16-year-old colleague; was an employee of the “Direct Attack” affiliate in an all-girl group who are given the task of destroying dangerous criminals, terrorists operating in Tokyo; was transferred by the authorities to another branch after failure to comply with a direct order.
Interesting Facts
- The anime was directed by Shingo Adachi, who also works as an animator and character designer. Shingo’s most popular project is the anime “Sword Art Online“. When Adachi was in college, he wanted to become a professional manga artist. His first job was at the Japanese animation studio Xebec, where he worked as an animator. “Lycoris Recoil” is the directorial debut of Shingo Adachi.
- Based on the original anime “Lycoris Recoil”, a manga adaptation is being created and is scheduled for release on September 5, 2022 in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Flapper. There will also be a light novel based on the series (“Lycoris Recoil: Ordinary Days”), written by Asaura. It is scheduled for release on September 9, 2022 by ASCII Media Works and Dengeki Bunko.
- After its premiere, the anime topped the charts for three consecutive weeks. A weekly poll conducted by Anime Corner Summer noted that the series received nearly 10,000 votes. On the 2nd place of their list was the fresh anime “Uncle From Another World” (“Isekai Ojisan”).
