Plot

The Abyss is the most dangerous place for people, but at the same time, it has unimaginable natural wonders, all kinds of creatures that have never been seen by man, as well as mysterious artifacts of great value. Only the chosen ones can descend to the very bottom of the Abyss, but only a few return from there. What is this mysterious place? Will its secret be solved?

Lyza became a living legend as she managed to descend into the Abyss along with members of her expedition team. During an important mission, the group lost a lot of people, but she was able to survive and give birth to her daughter Riko. Rising to the surface, Lyza returned to the Abyss, leaving the girl in a shelter.

10 years have passed. Born in the Abyss, Riko dreams of following in her mother’s footsteps. And when the girl found out that Lyza might be alive, she hit the road without hesitation. Riko’s main companion, protector and friend, was the robot boy Reg, accidentally found by her in the upper levels of the Abyss. It is to him that Riko will owe her life, because he will save her again and again…

• Rico — an orphan, her mother was considered a legend, nicknamed “Lyza the Annihilator”; went to the Abyss in search of her with Reg; a brave girl, not afraid of difficulties, because she dreams of being like her legendary mother.
• Reg — a boy robot found by Riko on the day of her hike through the upper level of the Abyss; the most valuable artifact of the Abyss; does not remember anything about his past; incredibly strong; several times saved Riko, who was on the verge of death.
• Vueko — an orphan girl who was adopted by a man who constantly mocked her and kept her in fear; became a member of the Ganja group, later becomes one of the 3 sages; a girl who is unsure of herself, but has great strength in her.
• Irumyuui — a girl expelled by her tribe due to her inability to bear children; became an offering to the Abyss and was accepted into the Ganja group thanks to Vueko, with whom Irumyuui immediately became very friendly; became their guide, because she knew a lot about these places.

1. The following information speaks about the incredible popularity of the 1st season of the anime “Made in Abyss”: the series was in the “Top 100 Best Anime of the 2010s” according to the site Crunchyroll. And IGN included it in the list of the best anime series of the 2010s.
2. In 2018, “Made in Abyss” won the “Anime of the Year” award at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
3. The name of the main character Riko is of Japanese origin, meaning literally “child of white jasmine”. Most likely, the Resilience Flower found in the Abyss has a lot in common with the jasmine flower for this reason.
