Exactly two years passed between the premieres of the 1st and 2nd seasons. Whether the director will adhere to such a pace is not yet clear. Currently, production of season 3 is not officially confirmed. But given the crazy popularity of the project called “Major”, the continuation of the series may well take place. In the meantime, we just have to follow the news.

Plot

Goro Shigeno left a bright mark in the sports world. He is famous throughout the world as one of the best baseball players. Time is running. Now the starry path to glory and victories wants to repeat his rising son Daigo. But the boy needs to make every effort to prove that he is the son of his father.

Trying to gain a foothold in the baseball team, Daigo quickly realizes that nature did not endow him with the abilities of his father. Depression covers a guy. He leaves the world of sports for a long time. But any athlete will say that the main thing is to fight to the end. In sports, there is no place for the weak, those who give up, lose faith in themselves, do not train through pain. Sport is a struggle.

With the advent of a new student in Daigo’s life, Hikaru Satō, everything changes. Now the guys have to become team leaders, lead others along. There is a lot of hard work ahead. It is necessary to prove not only to others, but, most importantly, to yourself that you deserve to be the best. Daigo has a new breath. Now the guy cannot be stopped. Will the guy handle the new challenges? Will his father be proud of his son?

• Daigo Shigeno – the son of the famous baseball father; student of a sports school; since childhood, he has shown a love for baseball; the boy was distinguished by intelligence, was on good terms with his family; started as a member of the Mifune Dolphins youth league team; could not cope with the burden of responsibility, because he could not prove himself in baseball as brightly as his father, so Daigo was depressed; by nature, the guy is cheerful, good-natured, open; plays baseball, despite the fact that his team consists of only girls.
• Goro Shigeno – Daigo’s father; professional baseball player; was a Major League player; in the game he is impudent, purposeful, self-confident; followed in the footsteps of his baseball father; in childhood, Goro believed that for the happiness of his father, he should become a professional player.
• Hikaru Sato – a friend of Daigo, a partner and at the same time a rival in the game; thanks to Hikaru, Daigo returned to the sport; by nature – the exact opposite of a friend.
• Toshiya Sato – Hikaru’s father; Goro Shigeno’s best friend, but at the same time, his eternal rival in the game; trains Daigo and Hikaru; as a child, he was timid and shy, and eventually turned into a strong, athletic player; in baseball, always calm and prudent; he never leaves the competitive spirit.

Interesting Facts

1. The “Major 2nd” manga, a direct sequel to the “Major” manga, was first published in March 2015 in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine. In April 2018, 13 volumes of manga were printed in the amount of 5.6 million copies. As of April 2020, 19 volumes have been released.
2. The coronavirus pandemic prevented fans from enjoying the anime to the fullest. So, after the first 4 episodes of season 2 were shown, the channel’s management decided to postpone the episode 5. As a result, with an interval of 5 weeks, fans still saw the long-awaited episode.
3. The anime was directed by Ayumu Watanabe. Among his popular projects: “Love is Like after the Rain“, “Space Brothers”, “Mysterious Girlfriend X”, etc.
