If after season 1 there were doubts about the popularity of the show, now they can safely take on the next episodes! However, the fans’ joy did not last long. In May 2021, the creators of the TV series “Prodigal Son” officially announced the closure of the project after the release of season 2. The reasons for this decision are unknown.

Plot

When Malcolm was 10 years old, he learned the whole truth about the parent. Being the most dangerous criminal of the century, Martin still loved the child, although he could not give up his criminal activity. The police came to the house and took the father to prison, and the son was left alone with the revealed truth.

Skillfully dealing with victims, Martin was able to influence any part of the body in order to kill a person. Over the years, the mother and sister were able to more or less forget about the terrible incident, but Malcolm had a hard time. Nightmares interfered with normal sleep, and the mouth guard became the guy’s best friend for all subsequent years. He had not only to fall asleep with it, but even to be handcuffed.

The past influenced Malcolm so much that he chose to change his last name, so as not to have anything to do with the one who so disgraced the family. Sometimes he caught himself thinking that he was ashamed of the time spent with his father.

In the future, the FBI was chosen as the main profession, where they were looking for serial killers. Wanting to save the world from people like his father, the boy spent his energy on catching criminals and did not spare his free time. When you see this face to face, you perceive the problem more sharply – so Malcolm thought, entering the service.

He did not have to work for a long time – the next catching of the killer ended in dismissal. The reason was serious – deciding to save the victim by all means, Malcolm cuts off his hand. For such actions, he has to give up a badge and be removed from service. But then a policeman finds him and offers to illegally investigate.

The perpetrator is a copycat of the Surgeon and adores his methods. To find the unknown, the guy goes to meet with his father. He will definitely give a clue leading to the solution to the new rebus. Nightmares again do not allow the son to live in peace, interfere with his daily activities, which means that a new business does not require delay – it must be urgently resolved…

• Malcolm Bright – the son of a famous criminal who worked under the pseudonym the Surgeon; suffers from terrible dreams; is forced to wear protective equipment before going to bed; hates his father, with whom he spent his childhood, used to consider him the best in the world; was fired from the FBI, after which Malcolm was offered a new investigation – Tom Payne.
• Dani Powell – Malcolm’s partner, worked with him in the Bureau; knows how to reason logically, is distinguished by calmness and the ability to adequately approach any business; not afraid of the sight of blood or horrific corpses; not always on the side of a partner, but at any time ready to provide support – Aurora Perrineau.
• Martin – a famous serial killer who enjoys human torment; previously injected a paralyzing solution into the body of the alleged victim, and then made him suffer, cutting veins and inflicting other fatal wounds; was close with his son, but stopped communicating after he was declassified – Michael Sheen.

Interesting Facts

1. Tom Payne became famous thanks to the multi-part project “The Walking Dead“, where he played for a long time as Jesus – one of the main characters fighting zombies. For the sake of “Prodigal Son” he broke the contract with “The Walking Dead” and in season 9 his character was brutally killed by opponents.
2. Becoming a kind angel in “Good Omens” and playing himself in “Staged“, Michael Sheen decided to try the role of a psychopath, opening the veins of poor sufferers. Despite his middle age, the artist did an excellent job with the insane role and even became a favorite of the audience, overtaking Tom Payne in voting for the Audience Award.
3. The production of the show was assisted by Warner Bros. Television, and most of the work was done by Berlanti Productions, the company of executive producer Greg Berlanti. For many years he has been working for the benefit of the film industry, delighting the audience with such films as “Dawson’s Creek”, “Jack & Bobby”, “Everwood”.
