“Resident Alien ss 3”: release date, announcement

Officially, the fantastic TV series “Resident Alien” has been renewed for season 3 and there is no talk of closing the project either. It makes no sense to close the TV show after showing 2 seasons, which received the love of the audience and a large number of nominations and awards.

Filming for the new episodes began in July 2022. The exact date of their premiere has not yet been announced, but most likely it will happen in mid-summer 2023!

Plot

The alien remained on Earth to observe the earth’s civilization, and later to destroy people and prepare the planet for settlement by his kind. To do this, he found a man, killed him, adopted his appearance and stayed to live in his house. The victim was Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle, whose last years were spent in solitude with nature, in a cozy, quiet house on the river bank.

Soon the local police came to Harry, asking to examine the body of the local doctor, who had died a few hours earlier. The cops hoped that Harry would help them understand the cause of the man’s death. And indeed, in the 1st episode of the 1st season, the investigation moved off the ground and the details of the last minutes of the life of the deceased became known.

Asta became interested in solving the crime — the doctor’s assistant, who was against the version that her boss killed himself. In life, the girl tried to seek the truth, so she so fiercely clung to the opportunity to learn about the death of the doctor.

Four months ago, Asta left a guy she had been dating for many years. In her youth, she gave birth to him, but having no means of subsistence, she had to give the baby to a foster family. All these years, Asta believed that if she broke off relations, then separation from the child would lose its meaning. But one day, when she saw a spaceship hovering above the earth, she decided to change and start life anew.

Her acquaintance with Harry happened just at the moment when she needed to pick up things from the house of a former roommate. Fearing to be beaten again, Asta asks the newly minted doctor to help her. Vanderspeigle does not think for a long time: he breaks the door, causes damage to the enemy and takes everything that Asta needed. Thus, their warm friendship was born. Harry later becomes her new boss.

Sometimes there are people who are able to see the true appearance of a humanoid. And our hero is not lucky with the very first patient, which becomes a young, impressionable boy. How will Vanderspeigle get away? Kill the child, as well as the owner of his current form? Or try to make friends?

Actors and their roles

1. Harry — sent to Earth on a mission to become one of the locals; pushed Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle into an icy pond, then took on his appearance and watched TV for 4 months to learn about human habits; pretended to be a murdered doctor when the police arrived; at the request of the mayor, he became the new doctor — Alan Tudyk.
2. Max — a boy who can see the true appearance of alien beings; first meets him in his room, then in the hospital, Max reports this to the police station, but they do not believe him, as a result he makes a kind of friendship with him — Judah Prehn.
3. Asta — Harry’s assistant; for many years she lived with a terrible person, endured humiliation and abuse; witnessed a UFO the day she decided to break up with her boyfriend — Sara Tomko.
4. Mike Thompson — hip-hop lover; works as a sheriff and considers himself a “tough guy”, although others do not have respect for him —Corey Reynolds.

Interesting Facts

1. Each season appears with a difference of 1 year. On January 27, 2021, the season 1 appeared on Syfy, and on January 26, 2022, the season 2 was released. This time is enough to fully finalize the season and insert it into the tight schedule of the channel. That is why the premiere of the 3rd season is scheduled for early 2023.
2. “Resident Alien” is one of the few projects in which during the pandemic, the actors and the entire crew received wages for… staying at home. Online they communicated, rehearsed and solved working issues. It was in 2020 when season 1 was being filmed.
3. Young Judah Prehn first appeared on the set of the TV show “Adam Ruins Everything”. From there, he was remembered by Chris Sheridan, who personally sent a proposal for cooperation to his parents. For the season 1, the boy received 150 thousand dollars. By comparison, the lead actor receives 250 thousand, but his airtime is much more.
4. The TV series is based on the comic book of the same name, which has gained immense popularity among readers. The storyline of the comic book and the TV show is basically the same. However, there are differences: for example, the fact that the protagonist of the series is involved in mysterious murders. Recall that the first comic was published in July 2012.
