The sequel to supernatural teen drama “Riverdale” has been officially announced! And it also became known that the season 7 will be the final one. The premiere of new episodes is scheduled for the spring of 2023 — there is no more precise information yet.
Recall that the TV show is based on Archie Comics, released over three decades.

Plot

As high school students, Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead and their friends were indirectly involved in the murder. Twins Cheryl and Jason Blossom went to the river to swim in the boat. The walk ended with Cheryl was found alive on the other side, and Jason was not found at all. The girl claimed that the boat capsized, and her brother was under water. Panicking, he drowned.

This event echoed throughout the city. At the time of the murder, Archie was on the river, heard shots, but cannot tell the police about it. Geraldine, his music teacher, was with him. If investigators find out about their relationship, the girl faces a prison sentence for molesting a minor.

Newly arrived at Riverdale, Veronica Lodge, soon learns that her father is involved in this case. In the meantime, old secrets are revealed, Jason’s body is found in the river. There is a huge hole in his head, and on his body there are numerous injuries, which indicate that the guy was tortured. Cheryl has to admit that the trip to the lake was planned by them.

Jason wanted to run away and settle elsewhere. After persuading his sister to take this step, they came up with a plan. Cheryl will be found on the banks of the river and she will say that her brother has drowned. And so they did. Only after a while Cheryl began to panic, because her brother had to call her when he settled in a new place. But there was no call, and soon his corpse was found.

Thanks to the mother of Betty Cooper, all the facts about the boy’s death became known to the public. The Blossom family was disliked for their desire for power, so many openly gloated over their grief. Mrs. Cooper also pursued her own interests: before his disappearance, Jason managed to sleep with her eldest daughter, and then left her, although the girl was expecting a child from him.

This event triggered a series of the following problems, and no one can stop it. The matured protagonists to this day are involved in the most high-profile police cases associated with the city. Who will be the next villain? Will anyone manage to go unnoticed by committing more murders?

• Veronica Lodge — came from New York where she behaved badly and showed off her wealth; getting to know Betty helped her to realize how kindness is better than backbiting; in season 1, realizes that she has feelings for Archie, but hides them for the sake of a good relationship with Betty — Camila Mendes.
• Cheryl Blossom — twin sister of the slain Jason; cheerleading team captain; has an irresistible craving for manipulation; smug, obsessively following the appearance; she disdains people whose financial condition is worse than that of her parents — Madelaine Petsch.

Interesting Facts

1. Few people know that the Cole Sprouse actor has a twin brother who was born a few minutes earlier. This happened in Italy, where their parents were then living. Some time later, the family returned to California, where the acting career of the kids began as early as 8 months. These were various TV shows and films.
