The sequel to the historical comedy drama “The Great” was officially announced in July 2020. It is known that the shooting of new episodes started in early November of the same year. As such, Season 2 will premiere no earlier than autumn 2021.

Plot

Unfortunately for the German, Sophie Auguste Friederike von Anhalt-Zerbst-Dornburg, her father became impoverished. In order to save his country from ruin, the ruler finds the only way to save the people – it is profitable to marry his daughter. This is the first meeting with the Russian emperor Peter III, who later becomes the husband of Sophie.

The girl was given a different name, now she is Catherine II. At first, she faithfully bears her burden, considering it her duty to become a beautiful wife for the Russian emperor. But the longer she stays in the palace, the more she realizes that Peter doesn’t give a damn about ordinary Christians. His duty he considers wasting the treasury, fornication and continuous fun.

Catherine completely disappointed in her husband, while he is looking for another hobby. He closes his eyes to the problems. Meanwhile, the Russian Empire is in an economic abyss, and the moment is about to come when Peter will no longer be able to get out of debt. Then Catherine herself decides to act. For the good of her people.

Balls in the palace do not stop. Peter turns out to be such a vile person that he is ready to use his wife as a prostitute for other men. All hopes for a clean relationship and great love have melted away. Therefore, Catherine had no choice but to get involved in the state’s economy and plunge into politics.

Now no one can escape from the imperial orders laid down by the empress herself. Catherine is not the same girl that Peter took as his wife. Now she understands that if the husband does not stop emptying the treasury, then the state will have a difficult time. Having taken all her composure and enlisted the support of her subjects, the Empress plans to make a coup…

1. The whole world was amazed at the project. It seems that the great empress was laughed at, and even in such a harsh form. However, the show found its audience who liked this kind of humor.
