The TV series “The One” is based on the novel of the same name by English writer John Marrs. Initially, the producers planned that this would be a one-season project, so we should not wait for the continuation of the TV show. The whole story of the main characters is told in full.
Plot
After the creation of the program “The one”, Rebecca’s life took off sharply. She travels everywhere with her chosen one, who readily accompanies her at any event. Everyone knows Webb as an amazingly talented and cheerful woman, but in reality, she has to deal with many problems every day.
One day a lady from the circle of politicians publicly declares that the program “The one” should be banned, since the number of divorces is growing exponentially. People are increasingly complaining about poor matchmaking. Many doubt that their couple is really the best they deserve. Determined to dispel doubts, Webb begins her game.
Rebecca tells her ill-wisher that on the day of her majority, her eldest daughter passed a DNA test. Her life companion is a man who was in prison and repeatedly beat women. Rebecca invites the woman to think about her daughter’s future and no longer start arguments about the need to close the project “The one”.
In fact, the girl’s lover was a beautiful man with good parents and a secure future. Rebecca had to use lies for her own interests. At this time, the police come to the doorstep of her house, who found the body of her friend Ben in the river. Together with him, she began work on the current successful project, but a year ago, Rebecca announced his disappearance.
The police concluded that the man was killed even before the body was thrown into the river. In order to somehow understand what happened to the murdered, they ask Rebecca to tell about the last days spent with him. And then in the memories Webb sees the moments of a year ago, which she dreamed of forgetting.
She knows how Ben was killed. She knows who did it and why. She will have to make a lot of efforts to convince the police of her innocence. Meanwhile, ordinary people are unfolding real tragedies related to the project and its impact on their personal lives…

Interesting Facts
- When choosing employees for a project, producer Johnny Capps chose those who worked on TV shows of various orientations, that is, so that their work was not limited to one genre. All directors and writers have behind them several shows of different styles – from chilling thriller to melodrama.
- Lois Chimimba lives in the USA, and when she had to come to London to shoot, the rainy season began. For several days the girl could not cope with her curly hair, which in such a humid climate turned into wonderful waves.
- The script began to be written only after Hannah Ware agreed to participate in the project. Johnny Capps initially saw her at the head of the picture, and later reported this to the directors. Ware was flattered by this attention, but on the set she did not take advantage of her position and worked as hard as the rest of the artists.
- In episode 1 of season 1, a real human skeleton was fished out of the river – director Catherine Morshead helped to get such a rare exhibit, whose acquaintance with a local pathologist is sometimes useful for filming. Zoe Tapper was even afraid to approach the skeleton, because she is terribly afraid of the dead.
