At the moment, there are no hints of the development of a season 2, as the psychological thriller “The Patient” was originally presented as a limited series. Therefore, we should not wait for the continuation of the picture.

Plot

Alan Strauss strictly adhered to Jewish traditions and sacredly honored them, no matter what. He was upset when the children did not follow the family rules. But since they had grown up a long time ago, their opinion had to be reckoned with. His wife Beth died not so long ago, so the memories of her daily torment his sick heart. This is how it goes every day — in faith and sorrow.

His practice in psychiatry is paying off. One day, an unusual patient comes to Alan, who does not want to take off his glasses, talk about painful topics, and Strauss comes to the conclusion that Jim simply does not want help. A few days later, Alan wakes up in a strange house, chained to a pipe. Nearby is everything he needs, but nothing that would help him get out.

The kidnapper turns out to be Jim, who is actually called Sam. He admits that he did a terrible thing by kidnapping Alan, but is not going to let him go. Sam needs a personal therapist to help him deal with his overwhelming urge to kill one person. The guy tells a backstory from which it becomes clear that his mind is damaged.

In fact, there is no adequate reason to kill, especially since it is against the law. But Sam does not feel that he is preparing to commit some serious crime. He just wants to take the life of a certain person for making fun of him in front of others. And although Alan does not want to start sessions on the client’s terms, he can’t back down.

Sam stops Strauss’ attempts to get out of the house in every possible way. The dwelling is far from people, and therefore the doctor’s attempts to attract attention by screaming always end in failure. This is how the days go. Alan begins to look for new options that will allow him to get out of captivity. But one day Sam visits him with great determination to urgently kill a man…

Alternately with persuasion to calm down, Strauss is looking for a way to influence the criminal and break free. But how soon can he do it? And will Sam commit a crime? In the meantime, events are gaining momentum, Alan increasingly begins to see the ghost of his dead wife. And who now needs psychotherapy sessions? Won’t these visions drive that person crazy, who himself should help others?..

1. Domhnall Gleeson comes from a family of actors, the eldest of which is his father Brendan Gleeson. Together they starred in the “Harry Potter” franchise — Brendan played Alastor “Mad-Eye” Moody, and Domhnall got the role of the eldest of the Weasley brothers.
