The relationship between Noah and Emma has gone wrong for a long time, but admitting this to yourself means for everyone to be left without a soulmate. After 10 years of marriage, they decide to go to a resort where they will not only have to face new feelings, but also become real participants in a mysterious crime…

“The Resort ss 2”: release date, announcement

The continuation of the black comedy “The Resort” has not been officially announced. Despite the high ratings of the season 1, the producers of the project are in no hurry to renew it. As of July 2023, there is no information about season 2.

Plot

Arriving at a wonderful hotel on the seashore, the main characters hoped to take a break from everyday life. But wherever they looked, they were everywhere surrounded by the dullness of everyday life. And although the cause of the discord was in themselves, they stubbornly did not notice it. Noah chided Emma for bad breath and sloppiness at lunch. The girl also drew attention to his bad habits.

This would have gone on for the whole vacation, but one day they went quad biking and Emma lost control. While Noah, distraught with fear, tried to alleviate her condition, she thought of something else. After falling off the ATV, she found a vintage Motorola nearby, which was popular over 10 years ago. At the present time, such gadgets have been discontinued.

Without saying anything to her husband, she wanted to know what someone’s phone was doing near the resort. Digging through photos and messages from the owner, she realized that the cell phone belonged to a guy named Sam, who vacationed here a dozen years ago. Then a deadly hurricane destroyed the whole island and the owner of the phone disappeared after this tragedy.

Together with Sam, the girl Violet, who is resting in the same hotel, disappeared. They arrived separately, and there was no evidence that Sam and Violet knew each other until Emma decided to involve her husband in the case. He immediately dug into the deleted files and found a photo where Sam is standing next to Violet. Having caught fire with the common idea to solve the crime, the married couple rushes into all serious. The routine immediately disappears from their lives and new sensations do not let them get bored and look for flaws in each other.

Alternately with the events of the present time, the story of Sam and Violet’s acquaintance is told, as well as the true motive that forced them to unite for no apparent reason. Are they alive? Who can find them? What are the chances for Emma and Noah to find them safe and sound?..

Actors and their roles

• Emma — a woman dissatisfied with life; often sad; knows her husband like the back of her hand; any dispute with him turns into her gain; after falling off a quad bike, she finds a broken phone in the thicket, decides to fix it and rushes headlong into a new story full of vivid impressions — Cristin Milioti.
• Noah — Emma’s husband; demanding of his and her appearance; wants to make a positive impression on others and does it successfully; without asking, he digs into his wife’s bag and finds an old Motorola there, after which he decides to have a serious talk with his wife — William Jackson Harper.
• Sam — a charming guy who is fond of comics; goes on a trip with his parents and his girlfriend; finds out on the plane that his lover is sleeping with her teacher; frustrated, he rides a skateboard around the hotel and meets Violet — Skyler Gisondo.
• Violet — came to rest with her father; studying in high school; caring, smart, beautiful, has her own individual style — Nina Bloomgarden.
• Hannah — Sam’s girlfriend; she is carried away only by her own appearance and revels in her beauty; is in correspondence with a professor who offers her perverted forms of intimacy; tries to talk to Sam after he finds her positive response to messages from another man — Debby Ryan.

Interesting Facts

1. Small but bright roles of Cristin Milioti allowed the audience to remember her. The girl played minor roles in such projects as “The Wolf of Wall Street”, “How I Met Your Mother”, “Modern Love”, “Black Mirror“, “Fargo” and others. In the films “How I Met Your Mother” and “Fargo” Cristin plays a cancer patient.
2. The producer of the project was Dana Scott — the creator of the TV series “Ozark”, as well as the equally popular films “Deception” and “Imperfections”. She is currently working on a new project, tentatively titled “Listers”, with no release date yet.
3. Filming of the TV show took place in early 2022 and lasted 3 months. The film crew worked in Puerto Rico.
