The sequel to the superhero supernatural fantasy “The Sandman” has been officially announced. It is known that work on the season 2 began immediately after the premiere of the first one. Plot
The little son of Roderick Burgess was always afraid of witchcraft and did not learn the wisdom of his father. He only carried out his orders and bowed before the strongest sorcerer who decided to call on Death itself. The reason for this was the loss of the eldest son of Roderick. The loving father wanted to make up for this loss by resurrection through Death.
But instead of Death, Morpheus fell into the trap of sorcerers. Governing the flourishing world of dreams, he helped people get out of dreams without unnecessary worries. But by making him his prisoner, Roderick doomed millions of people to trouble — they simply did not wake up, remaining in captivity of a lethargic sleep for a long time. This went on for 70 long years.
During this time, many changes took place, Roderick’s precarious position strengthened financially and brought him success in business. But he owed it all to the items he took from Morpheus. Taking the amulet, sandbag and mask from him, Roderick carelessly continued to search for methods to resurrect the deceased. The younger child was of little interest to him, since he did not have a firmness of character and did what his father told him.
10 years after the capture of Morpheus, Roderick was honored with two twists of fate at once. The first was the flight of his young wife, who took with her an amulet and money. She did not want to have an abortion, which her husband insisted on. And the second twist was a fatal blow from the son he never loved.
For the next decades, Morpheus languished in a glass bowl. But a random gesture freed him and made him the worst enemy of those who contributed to his capture. The survivors in a lethargic dream were able to wake up, it became easier for people to fall asleep. But Morpheus himself did not return to the world of dreams, but to real devastation, which he would have to restore again.
Why is he called the Sandman? There is a belief that when a person falls asleep, Morpheus blows sand on him — this takes the person into the world of those dreams that God wants to show him. But what happened to people during the years that the Sandman spent in captivity? How will he restore the shaky peace and defeat his worst enemies?..

- Lucifer — lives in hell, where Morphia has to descend in order to achieve his goal; is not an antagonist of the TV series, but she does not want to cooperate with Morpheus — Gwendoline Christie.
- Doctor Destiny — mentally ill, so he has been in treatment for a long time; escapes from a psychiatric clinic and terrorizes the Sandman, because he wants to exterminate and free the world from his influence forever; has magical powers — David Thewlis.
Interesting Facts
- Morpheus is otherwise called Dream. He has siblings: Death, Delirium, Desire, Despair, Destiny, Destruction, and Dream. Viewers of the season 1 saw only four of them. Of these, the only one whose opinion he is at least somehow interested in is his elder sister Death. The rest are for him no more than named relatives.
- The plot of the season 1 is based on the script of the volume 1 of the comic book of the same name. A total of 2 volumes have been released.
- In the season 1, a very young widow, Lita, who is the daughter of Wonder Woman, as well as Rose, who is looking for her beloved brother, appeared. Let’s not forget the eccentric Gilbert. This trinity will be a mainstay to the scenario of the season 2. Details have not yet been disclosed.
- Since 1990, the TV show “The Sandman” has been looking for a place on the airwaves, but only Netflix allowed Neil Gaiman, the writer and creator of the superhero, to develop the season 1.
