The intention of the management of the crime drama “Vigil” to shoot a sequel became known in March 2022. Filming began almost immediately. Plot
Commander Neil Newsome directs the crew of a submarine carrying nuclear warheads. The weapons are so expensive that the team often jokes about this topic, saying that wars do not start because it is too expensive. One of the tasks of the boat is to rescue people in a disaster at sea.
One day a Scottish fishing trawler sounds a distress signal. Having caught the rope for an unknown object or creature, the sailors begin to drown. After receiving the signal, Chief Petty Officer Craig Burke takes orders from the Commander to figure out what is pulling the ship to the bottom. Not following the instructions, Craig throws a tantrum, wanting to quickly save people. He is forced to stay in the cabin.
After some time, the ship in distress sank along with the sailors. Deciding to talk to Burke in his office, Neil calls him on the speakerphone, but he does not come. Then people are sent after him, who find him dead. By all indications, it seems like Craig committed suicide. But is it?

Amy Silva is very reluctant to embark on a mission that should take 3 days. After the death of her husband and daughter, who drowned, it is difficult for a woman to be in the water. But the work is urgent and Amy has to obey.
On the very first day, Silva realizes that there are things that others hide. With deceitful maneuvers, she begins to work her way to the truth, but Neil immediately understands her intentions and stops any attempts to take the truth off the boat. Amy finds bruises on the victim’s neck and realizes that someone was trying to force him to sniff a psychotropic drug.
Back on land, she meets the girl of the deceased, who is convinced that Burke has never touched drugs. But how to get the truth from the commander’s crew? Amy will have to overcome Newsome’s reluctance to tell her the truth, and she will also have to overcome her own fears. But worst of all, she will be dragged into conflict that threatens Britain’s nuclear security…

Interesting Facts
- The filming process took place not in a real submarine – this is a huge set, in which everything is worked out to the smallest detail. This played into the hands of the actors, since they did not need to imagine themselves in a submarine — everything seemed very realistic.
- The work of the decorators was separately noted by the director of the TV show, since they were not allowed to recreate the submarine from real drawings due to the high secrecy of the work of the Navy. Overall, however, the result is quite realistic. But experts note that in reality the premises and corridors of the submarine are much narrower, and the ceiling is lower.
- Suranne Jones recalls with a smile the scene when she first went to her bunk bed in a submarine. Since the actress is rather tall, it was not easy to do this. After the first take, the director asked Suranne to make her movements “graceful,” which was genuinely a challenge for Jones.
- The scene in which the main character descends from the helicopter on board the submarine was actually filmed in a regular parking lot in Scotland.
- Rose Leslie recently came out of maternity leave, giving birth to a child from Kit Harington. Recall that the actors met on the set of the TV show “Game of Thrones“, when they took part in a project together.
