“Vikings: Valhalla ss 2”: release date, announcement

The TV series “Vikings: Valhalla” is based on the chronicles of the English kingdom and tells about the events that took place 100 years after the story described in the original TV show “Vikings“.
Back in 2019, it was reported that Netflix ordered a new project that will consist of 24 episodes. This means that after the 8-episode first season of “Vikings: Valhalla”, there will be at least two more seasons. Exact release date: January 12, 2023! All episodes will be released on the same day.

Plot

A terrible storm awaited the Freydís and Leif team, but they managed to get to the coast of Norway and settle down there for the night. Having met the influential Harald on the pier, Freydís immediately decided on a close relationship. Five weeks at sea were taking their toll, and the woman needed a bathroom that only he had.

In a short dialogue, Freydís tells a new acquaintance about the purpose of their visit to these lands. It turns out that in her youth she became a victim of a rapist who reproached her for her connection with the pagans. Then Freydís did not even know who they were, but she forever remembered the cross hanging around the pervert’s neck. Having learned that such crosses are worn by Christians, she went beyond the borders of her native lands.

Together with her brother and a small group of comrades, Freydís ended up here. The Vikings who sailed here from all over the world decided to attack the lands of Ethelred, deprive him of power and cruelly avenge those who died on St. Bryce’s day. Then not only men died, but also women with their children — proud Vikings will never forgive such actions.

Having gathered in one place, they gave Freydís the opportunity to get even with the offender — in the very first episode, she dealt a fatal blow to the one who carved a cross on her back with a knife. By doing this in neutral territory, she was able to ensure that no one else touched her. Harald admired the woman’s courage, but knew that it would cause too many problems.

The father of Leif and Freydís, Eric The Red, was famous in the area, having killed many people on his last visit. In Greenland, he received asylum, saving him from the Vikings from other places, but the road to Norway was closed to him. Everyone who recognized his children considered it their duty to get even for the family and comrades who fell at the hands of Eric…

The season 2 will move forward slightly in time, showing the further fate of the already beloved heroes. Freydís will show her strong character more than once, and Leif will be able to build relationships on the new mainland. But what war will be the culmination of the season 2 is still unknown.

1. One of the directors of the TV show was Steve Saint Leger, who spent many years working on the original source — the TV series “Vikings”. His colleagues were Hannah Quinn (“Fate: The Winx Saga“, “The Stranger”, “Blood”, “Red Rock”) and Niels Arden Oplev (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, “Millenium”, “Unforgettable”) .
